To celebrate the fifth anniversary of NieR: Automata's release, Babylon's Fall will play host to a limited-time collaboration event. NieR: Automata counts among the most beloved games of the eighth console generation, having launched to widespread acclaim in February 2017. Its gameplay and storytelling seemed a culmination of developer PlatinumGames' various achievements in the interactive medium. And its meteoric success managed to reignite interest in the long-dormant NieR franchise, which originally debuted with the release of Cavia's Nier in 2010.
Babylon's Fall constitutes the next major project from NieR: Automata developer PlatinumGames. However, it's nothing like the studio's projects of the past. Instead of robust single-player experience, Platinum's latest collaboration with publisher Square Enix comes in the form of a co-op action-RPG built around the storied development team's signature combat mechanics. With Babylon's Fall's demo and full launch right around the corner, now seems as good of a time as any for Square Enix and Co. to begin teasing more of the title's post-launch content plans.
