Fresh Start Worlds are coming to Aeternum next month. From November 2, New World players will be able to try out the Fresh Start Worlds servers. These servers have been heavily requested by the community, with many feeling as though the economy and the player level gap need a reset.
That request is now being fulfilled. This fresh start will give existing, returning, and new players the opportunity to start over on equal footing. The economy will be set back to zero, and everyone will start out with no equipment or levels. You will not be able to transfer any coins, loot, or character progression from the regular servers to these new servers.
The Fresh Start Worlds update will go live roughly two weeks after today’s Brimstone Sands expansion. Today’s update adds a new Ancient Egyptian-themed location to New World, plus various other quality-of-life improvements and new equipment. Players will have two weeks to try out the new update before choosing to start over in the new servers on a fresh character.
Fresh Start Worlds is not a new concept for MMORPGs. Recently, RuneScape and soon-to-be Old School RuneScape have both implemented a Fresh Start Worlds game mode. With older MMORPGs, these servers offer a unique opportunity to experience the whole game like it just came out. It is unusual for an MMO only released 13 months ago to follow the same path. Even so, the impact it has should still be comparable.
Despite New World being younger than most MMOs, a reset makes sense. Since its launch, its economy has been affected by duplication glitches, scamming, and bugs galore.
