New Witcher Gwent Card Game Announced, Releasing 2022
Developer CD Projekt Red has another standalone game based on The Witcher's Gwent in development; codenamed Project Golden Nekker, the title will launch sometime in late 2022. Two standalone Witcher Gwent adventures previously hit the market in the form of Gwent: The Witcher Card Game andThronebreaker: The Witcher Tales, both developed by the crew at CD Projekt Red.
Gwent: The Witcher Card Game launched in 2018 as a collectible card experience, not unlike the minigame players enjoyed in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The studio originally released the free-to-play title for PC and consoles, then deployed a mobile port in 2019. Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales took Gwent to new heights, with a standalone single-player offering that featured a unique story campaign, isometric exploration, and combat heavily inspired by Gwent matches. Notably, Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales starred Queen Meve, the Lyria and Rivia ruler who gave Geralt of Rivia his title in the books.

CD Projekt Red has previously stated that it's not yet finished with the World of the Witcher, and new details from IGN prove the Polish development house won't soon leave Gwent behind, either. According to the publication, the studio plans to release an all-new standalone Gwent game at an unspecified date this year. Codenamed Project Golden Nekker, the game in question will offer a "captivating single-player experience," Comms Lead Paweł Burza teased. Burza added that this title should appeal to those who prefer solo play over competitive multiplayer, though it bears no connection to the well-received Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales.
