As mentioned in the title, a new report has surfaced online that claims sources to them are confirming a 2024 release. That report comes from VGC, which says two individual sources have expressed the publication of a 2024 release date. The details are scarce right now, and that’s not too surprising. But from what VGC has heard, this new console successor for the Nintendo Switch will keep up with the portable form factor. So we’ll once again likely see a device you can take on the go while also being dockable for your home television. Meanwhile, there won’t be an OLED screen when the device launches; this is apparently done to ensure Nintendo can keep the price down as they bumped up the internal storage.
Physical cartridges will once again be used for video games, but we don’t know yet if this means the new cartridge slot will support the current Nintendo Switch library of games. That’s something Nintendo may struggle with when it comes to releasing this next-generation console platform.
