The War Within introduces interesting new mechanics to both Crafting and Gathering Professions. While players expect Profession updates each time a new expansion launches, The War Within is bringing an unusual number of changes that can alter how the flow of a Profession works, or make the Crafting or Gathering process more difficult than it has been in the past.

Much like Blacksmithing, Khaz Algar Enchanting is receiving a rather large mechanic change in The War Within. Enchanters will have to be much more mindful about how they conduct their crafts, because they now have a new buff to manage in order to maximize their output: Shatter Essence.
This new mechanic provides a level of buffs to the Enchanter, allowing them to increase their Resourcefulness, Ingenuity, and Multicrafting. Accompanied by an entire Specialization Tree, players will be able to boost the effects of Shatter Essence the more Knowledge Points they allocate to Supplementary Shattering. Even though the buff to these Secondary Stats starts off relatively low, it will rapidly increase over time, eventually replacing the old Dragonflight method of passive boosts to Secondary Stats via the Specialization general tree.
What does this mean for the average Enchanter? Namely, it means that those not taking advantage of Shatter Essence are missing out in a big way. Professions have been reworked in a manner that reaching max quality is significantly more difficult in The War Within, so at a bare minimum the Ingenuity bonus will be invaluable — and will set those using
