New Local Co-Op Game Surprised Launched for Multiple Platforms

Before online multiplayer became standard for console games, couch co-op was pretty much a standard feature of many titles. While it has become less common over time, a few games continue to keep local co-op alive.

One such title just surprised launched on multiple platforms. The new rhythm-based dungeon crawler Soundfall is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. Gamers can download it now from Steam and the PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo digital storefronts.

Developed by small studio Drastic Games, the new dungeon crawler stealth game dropped yesterday, May 11th. Players take the roles of the Guardians of Harmony, who are musicians summoned to defend the world of Symphonia from the corrupting forces of Discord. Described by its developers as a hybrid of dungeon crawler and looter shooter, players can unlock hundreds of items as they battle across Soundfall’s colorful isometric environments. While players have the option to adventure solo, Soundfall also supports 2-4 player local and online co-op. While the co-op is unfortunately not cross-platform, it is cross-gen on PlayStation and Xbox.

However, the game’s main feature is Soundfall’s rhythm-based gameplay. Players need to time their movements with the soundtrack’s beat to deliver more powerful attacks. When paired with Soundfall’s colorful art design, this creates a pretty impressive display of audio-visual spectacle. The featured songs are a mix of licensed music and original compositions.
