Warning! Spoilers for Dark Crisis #1 by DC Comics
The original Justice League is dead, and in Dark Crisis #1, Jon Kent's Superman assembles a new team to take their place for the time being. In the new DC Comics crossover event, Superman chooses a group of unlikely heroes to form the new Justice League, but he doesn't get every member he hopes to get. So instead, he recruits a ragtag group of heroes, including both Blue Beetles, Dr. Light, and Booster Gold.
The Justice League's greatest heroes met their end in the lead-up to Dark Crisis, as members of the superteam died brutal deaths in an epic last-stand against Pariah, The Great Darkness, and mind-controlled villains. On Earth, Jon Kent's Superman and Nightwing are left to pick up the pieces in the absence of the Justice League — even if the latter doesn't believe that Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman will be gone for long, as he's seen them die and return many times in the past.

In Dark Crisis #1 by Joshua Williamson, Daniel Sampere, Alejandro Sanchez, and Tom Napolitano from DC Comics, Earth's remaining heroes mourn the sudden loss of members of the Justice League. Jon Kent's Superman is inspired to assemble a new roster of heroes to have in place against the Great Darkness comes to Earth, leading him to Brazil, where he tries to recruit Yara Flor's Wonder Girl. However, after being rejected by the hero, Jayce Fox's Batman, Sojourner Mullein's Green Lantern, multiple Flashes, Peacemaker, Vixen, and Firestorm, Superman manages to find a handful of heroes to join him as new members of the Justice League.
