A new Destiny 2 emote, added to the game with Season 17, lets players pet a holographic dog for the benefit of children’s health and wellbeing. Bungie's free-to-play multiplayer shooter lets players explore a vast and ever-evolving galaxy thanks to ongoing updates and expansions. Destiny 2 Season 17 recently began, and the newest edition of the game includes an adorable emote that is both wholesome and charitable.
Bungie updates Destiny 2 on a regular basis, with new Seasons bringing in brand-new content for players to experience. Season 17, dubbed Season of the Haunted, began on May 24 and brought with it class reworks, returning items and a slew of brand-new content. Season of the Haunted brings with it a 3.0 rework of the game's fire-based Solar subclasses, which includes Sunbreakers and Dawnblades. The update also brings back the Leviathan raid boss, introduces the Sever weekly mission and adds a relic called the Scythe. To prepare for this new content many players will craft Destiny 2 weapons like Cataclysmic and Insidious, but the title's brand-new emote is more powerful than any sci-fi firearm.

A Bungie blog post recently detailed the new Destiny 2 emote, Loyal Companion, which players can purchase to benefit charity. The adorable cosmetic lets the player character squat down to pet a lovely holographic dog, making for a truly wholesome sight. Bungie Foundation’s Christine Edwards explains that the ethereal pooch is based on a real-life Belgian Malinois named Artemis who belongs to a dedicated Destiny 2 fan. The tale of Artemis and his owner will be shared in the future, but for now players can meet the awesome canine by purchasing the Loyal Companion emote.
