The latest trailer for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever appears to have settled beyond doubt just who will pick up the mantle from King T’Challa, as well as giving some more insight on the African nation’s conflict with Namor’s Talocan.

While the previous trailer had teased the silhouette of T’Challa’s successor and sparked many fan theories that went as far as pitching the return of Michael B. Jordan’s Killmonger as Black Panther, Ryan Coogler and Joe Rober Cole's script has adopted the comic book-accurate approach.

Nevertheless, this teaser definitely drives home the idea that Wakanda Forever is set to be a different kind of film than recent MCU releases, as Chadwick Boseman’s passing forces out the studio's comedic overtones for a more sober setting befitting the king. It’s not all about Shuri though, because Namor’s powers are finally showcased as he flies towards his Wakandan conquest, the Dora Milaje show all of their might, and there’s even a brief first glimpse of Riri Williams’ Ironheart suit — still, the footage is rather ambiguous to call out who is the real aggressor.
