Money Heist: Korea — Joint Economic Area has received an official release date. Netflix's massively successful Spanish crime show Money Heist wrapped up its final season 5 in 2021. Now, a Korean adaptation of the show is soon to be released. The adaptation, directed by Kim Hong-sun and written by Ryu Yong-jae, Kim Hwan-chae, and Choe Sung-jun, will follow a similar plot to the original Spanish version and feature the same characters. The star-studded cast includes Park Hae-soo (Squid Game), Jeon Jong-seo (Burning), and Lee Hyun-woo. Filming concluded in January of this year. A Money Heist: Korea trailer quickly followed, which revealed clues about how the creators of the show are planning on making this new version their own.
Now, the official Netflix Twitter account has revealed that Money Heist: Korea will be available for streaming starting on June 24. In addition to the announcement, Netflix also dropped a new Money Heist: Korea poster, which doesn’t reveal much in the way of plot details, but features a mask similar to the Salvador Dalí-inspired masks which were central to the original Money Heist. So far, the only details that have been provided to fans in terms of the plot are that it will center around a crew of thieves attempting to pull off a heist in the Korean Peninsula. There's lots to be excited about for this upcoming Money Heist spinoff, including getting to see star cast members like Park Sae-hoo embody iconic characters.
