In issue #5/6 of Weekly Shonen Jump, the mangaka behind some of the magazine's most successful series have revealed some of their favorite musical artists and songs. Established authors such as One Piece's Eiichiro Oda and My Hero Academia's Kohei Horikoshi shared the musical inspirations behind their beloved manga.
Weekly Shonen Jump is one of the longest-running and best-selling, manga magazines published in Japan by Shueisha. With a focus on teen male readers, and action or comedy series, WSJ was home to legendary manga such as Hiroiko Araki's JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Masashi Kishimoto's Naruto, and Akira Toriyama's Dragon Ball. During the 1980s and 1990s, the magazine reached the peak of its popularity, with a circulation of 6.5 million copies per week. Some of the series that started in those years are still ongoing, such as Yoshihiro Togashi's Hunter x Hunter and One Piece. Today, Weekly Shonen Jump showcases a number of new talents and successful series.

Issue 5-6, published on January 4, 2022, had 22 new chapters, including a special One-Piece one-shot, titled Shokugeki no Sanji, and a digital exclusive, Chou Nouryoku Inou-san. As a special feature, some of the mangaka currently published in the magazine shared their musical tastes with the readers. Eiichiro Oda mentions Yuta Orisaka, a young and successful singer-songwriter. He also likes 36 Km/h and Chilli Beans, a Japanese rock band a female J-Pop group respectively. These are all young artists, showing that One Piece's creator is keeping up with the latest trends, a quality that can be expected from the creator of a best-selling manga series that has been running for 25 years
