The open beta for the Super Smash Bros.-like fighting game MultiVersus is now in Early Access, available to anyone willing to spend 60 minutes earning a Twitch Drop. The full open beta launch, granting full access to the free-to-play game, will start on July 26. Not only are players diving into MultiVersus, discovering their mains, and unlocking new characters, but modders are dipping their toes in the water, too. In one example, a MultiVersus modder has even added a Super Smash Bros. character skin to the game.
Modder and YouTube content creator Junior shared a video on Twitter recently showing off his work in MultiVersus. The mod, one of the first of its kind, adds Super Smash Bros.'s Link to MultiVersus. It's not a gameplay mod, of course. It just applies Link's The Legend of Zelda model in replacement to one of MultiVersus' fighters. In this case, Junior chose to replace Wonder Woman with Link, perhaps because she's the only freely unlocked character in the game.
MultiVersus Open Beta Players Warned About Restrictive Battle Pass Progression
In this case, Wonder Woman is an optimal choice for swapping in Link. She wields both a sword and a shield in-game, exactly what Link would require. Super Smash Bros. players will also appreciate Wonder Woman's down smash attack, which looks near identical to Link's traditional move. There are some odd moves that don't cross over particularly perfectly, of course. Wonder Woman's Lasso of Truth whip isn't a traditional The Legend of Zelda weapon. In addition, Wonder Woman is able to fly horizontally and punch their opponent, which Link looks a bit odd doing.
Regardless, Junior's work converting The Legend of Zelda model into MultiVersus deserves to be acknowledged as quite impressive.
