Ms. Marvel star Iman Vellani threw the first pitch at a Toronto Blue Jays game. The new Marvel miniseries debuted on Disney+ on June 8, starring Vellani as the teenage Avengers fangirl Kamala Khan. Ms. Marvel follows Kamala as she gains superpowers and becomes just like the heroes that she idolizes, the biggest of which being Captain Marvel. Vellani is a Pakistani-Canadian actress hailing from Markham, Ontario, just outside of Toronto. Ms. Marvel is her first onscreen role, though she already has her follow-up project set: 2023's The Marvels.
In a post from the Toronto Blue Jays, the baseball team celebrated Vellani throwing the first pitch at the New York Yankees vs. Blue Jays game on June 17. Residing so close to Toronto, the Blue Jays are Vellani's local MLB team, and she showed her Toronto pride at the game. Wearing a Blue Jays shirt and a Ms. Marvel hat, Vellani posed for pictures with the team's mascot, as well as with centerfielder Bradley Zimmer. Check out the tweet below:
