The newest installment of Screen Rant's Pitch Meeting series focuses on Sony and Marvel's new movie, Morbius, as hilarious host Ryan George makes fun of the film's nonsensical plot. The superhero flick, which came out last week to mostly negative responses from critics, is the third in Sony's Spider-Man Universe franchise, following 2018's Venom and 2021's Venom: Let There Be Carnage. The next films to come are Kraven the Hunter in January 2023, and Madame Web, which does not yet have a set release date.
Morbius revolves around the well-known Spider-Man villain, Michael Morbius, a prize-winning doctor with a rare blood disease. In his desperate search for a cure, he gambles splicing his DNA with that of vampire bats, which results in him coming down with a form of vampirism. Directed by Daniel Espinosa and written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, the movie stars Jared Leto as the title character, Adria Arjona as love interest Martine Bancroft, Jared Harris as caretaker Emil Nicholas, and Matt Smith as Morbius' surrogate brother Milo.
