Other than Oscar Isaac's mesmerizing performance the Marc Spector/Steven Grant/Moon Knight, another highlight from Marvel Studios' Moon Knight series is seeing the introduction of a new hero played by May Calamawy: Scarlet Scarab. Now, Calamawy has expressed her desire to team up with other MCU characters.
During the Moon Knight finale, which saw Spector and Grant finally coming to terms with each other's presence and battling it out against the villainous Arthur Harrow and his forces, the episode also saw Calamawy's Layla El-Faouly becoming the MCU's new hero, Scarlet Scarab. As the Avatar of Tawaret, the Egyptian goddess of women and children, Layla possesses heightened physical abilities that also grant her the power of flight when suited up.
The Eternals Almost Made An Appearance In Moon Knight
While the series avoids many of the MCU connections in contrast to the previous Disney Plus series, Calamawy is already looking ahead. Speaking with Inverse, the actress shared that she would like to see her character team up with other MCU characters, a couple being Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange and Mahershala Ali's Blade. «There has been nothing yet that I know of what could happen with Scarlet Scarab. But I love Doctor Strange, that would be cool. Blade would be cool because I've worked with Mahershala Ali and I think he's so wonderful,» she said. «And then, I love all the women. I love Agatha. I feel like in the beginning, I used to love anyone that was kind of a villain like Nebula. I found them so complex. But honestly, it really depends on the story. I kind of want to be with all of them,»
But even more important to Calamawy is having her character Layla El-Faouly represent Egyptian culture in a meaningful way and
