No, this is not a late April Fool's joke. Minecraft has had a live-action movie in the works for a little while now, although we've heard so little about it that you'd be forgiven for not knowing it actually exists. It's been no secret that production has been troubled, with the last update we had coming in the form of an announcement back in 2022 that Game of Thrones and Aquaman star Jason Momoa will have a part to play.
It had been rumored that the title had been cancelled due to complications behind the scenes mixed with issues caused by the pandemic, but it now looks like every has calmed down as Warner Brothers has announced the title will release on April 4 in 2025. Due to this being almost two years away, it's best to take that date with a pinch of salt as that date could easily move between now and 2025, especially with the project already having a spotty history.

Despite being in production for a few years now, we still know very little about the movie and the plot. We know it's going to be set in the world of Minecraft and will be live-action, but that's all the info we have besides a brief movie description on IMDB. However, we can tell from this description that Momoa will not be playing the main character, as the movie will focus on "a young girl and her group of unlikely adventurers", meaning he'll probably be in more of a supporting role than centre stage.
