Proving that nearly anything can be done in Minecraft, a user has uploaded a video showing the original Doom running in Mojang's open-world sandbox title. It truly is a game that always has something new to discover and is probably the reason why so many people keep returning to the blocky world. Despite coming out in 2011, or 2009 if people count the very early versions of the game, it seems millions around the globe are still finding new things to create.
Of course, id software's iconic 1993 release has had just as much of an impact on the industry as Minecraft, maybe even more so. Although it's nearly 30 years old at this point, the classic FPS is still being played to this day. In fact, people have ported Doom onto some interesting devices, such as a treadmill screen, a vape pen, an iPod Mini, and even a John Deere tractor. To be able to run the game in Minecraft seems almost like a logical step, given all the other systems that can now play the game, albeit sometimes in a rudimentary fashion.

What's most interesting about what Reddit user science_dude123 has done is that they've managed to get Doom to play in the vanilla version of Minecraft. This means no mods were involved in the project at all. According to the user, they were able to utilize the game's console command to program their own compiler, which consisted of 2.3 million command lines to get the FPS to play. One thing to note about it is, although it's the authentic game running in Minecraft, it only plays at 1/500th the speed.
