Over the last few decades, anime has grown increasingly popular in the West, to the point where a good handful of shows have well and truly hit the mainstream. While kid's anime is much easier to market in the West, with shows like Pokemon and Digimon having remained popular for over 20 years, adult anime tends to be a little more niche. That isn't really the case with Attack on Titan, which is one of the biggest anime shows in the West, spawning plenty of merch and video game adaptations such as the surprisingly great Attack on Titan 2.
Released in March 2018, Attack on Titan 2 is the direct follow-up to Koei Tecmo and Omega Force's previous entry, A.O.T: Wings of Freedom. Using the same fluid gameplay mechanics as its predecessor, Attack on Titan 2 improves on the loop in every conceivable way, introducing new weapons, mechanics, abilities, characters, and story sequences. In 2019, Attack on Titan 2: Final Battle released, being a large-scale expansion that added a slew of new content to the game. But that's the last Attack on Titan game to have been released, and it's about time for a sequel to come out.

The last two Attack on Titan games were surprisingly great. The core gameplay loop of Attack on Titan 2 and Final Battle captures the essence of the anime perfectly, with each mission tasking players with swinging around environments ripped straight from the show and slashing down hordes of Titans on the way to completing a specific objective such as escorting the rest of Levi Squad.
