Xbox is bringing two classic RPGs from the late ‘90s to its Xbox and Microsoft storefronts. An Elder Scrolls Legend: Battlespire and The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard are now both available for Xbox Insiders to preview on PC ahead of both games’ re-release.
Bethesda has already updated both games for Steam, so this preview is likely just a formality. You can access either by first being an Xbox Insider, downloading the Xbox Insiders hub app on your Windows PC, and then selecting game previews. You should see both An Elder Scrolls Legend: Battlespire and The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard available to try.

An Elder Scrolls Legend: Battlespire first arrived in 1997 as a significant departure from previous Bethesda RPGs. There’s no merchants, no gold, and nowhere to rest. Instead, the player must journey through seven levels of Oblivion using whatever they can find in order to stop the Daedra lord Mehrunes Dagon from invading the Battlespire, a training facility for battlemages. While you’re at it, you’ll also have to save your partner and then escape back to Tamriel.
While Battlespire was a first-person adventure, The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard switches things up with a third-person camera view. In Redguard, you play as the mercenary Cyrus summoned back to the city of Stros M'Kai in search of your missing sister. On the way you’ll get waylaid by pirates before embarking on a swashbuckling journey that’s full of political intrigue.
