Metroid Prime Remastered saw a surprise digital launch for the Nintendo Switch last week, and last week, it also released physical in the UK. To little surprise, the latter has been a successful release as well. The Gfk has released its latest weekly data for physical sales in the UK (via GamesIndustry), and Metroid Prime Remastered has narrowly missed out on the top spot by just 1,000 units.
Slotting in at No. 2, it is the fourth biggest physical launch for a Metroid game in the UK, with sales 45% lower than what the original Metroid Prime managed when it launched for the GameCube in 2002. The remaster is also the second biggest physical launch of the year in the UK so far, second only to Hogwarts Legacy. Speaking of which, Hogwarts Legacy has managed to hang on to the top spot, making it four weeks in a row that the open world action RPG has been in the pole position in these charts.
Another major new releases is also in the top 10, with Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty coming in at No. 8. It saw 96% of its physical sales on PlayStation consoles, though not accounting for digital sales (for which data hasn’t yet been released), it has seen low launch numbers.
