Thanks to some clever video editing, the internet has been treated to a Mass Effect parody video starring Austin Powers in the place of Commander Shepard. Between 1997 and 2002, New Line Cinema released three Austin Powers movies, all of which parodied spy actions movies like James Bond. While Austin Powers may seem like an odd choice for a fan-made Mass Effect crossover, the classic comedy franchise's titular character did have himself cryogenically frozen, making him the perfect candidate for Shepard's replacement given the events in the Mass Effect 2 prologue.
Mass Effect 2 originally hit store shelves in 2010 for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360, marking BioWare's second go at its incredible spacefaring saga. The series received a much-needed new lease on life following last year's release of Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, which enhanced graphics, gameplay, and performance across all three titles in the original trilogy. And with a fourth mainline entry in the works, the discourse surrounding the brand's various up and downs will undoubtedly persist for a long time to come. So why not throw an Austin Powers-shaped wrench into the conversation?
