A Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Reddit thread has got fans discussing their most unnecessary feature requests for the sequel. Insomniac is yet to reveal any significant details regarding its next Marvel game, but last year's reveal trailer did confirm Venom and possibly Kraven the Hunter would appear as villains, as well as Peter Parker receiving a suit upgrade.
Spider-Man has a long and storied history in the video game medium. There has been no shortage of games surrounding the friendly neighborhood wall-crawler, and they have varied between more linear titles such as Neversoft's PS1-era Spider-Man games or Beenox's Shattered Dimensions and Edge of Time, to open-world entries that allow players to fully traverse and explore New York City, such as Marvel's Spider-Man. Over the years, many developers have worked to expand upon and refine the character's core mechanics, including web-swinging, with 2004's Spider-Man 2 movie tie-in using a physics-based system that saw webs attaching to the environment for the first time, rather than the "cloud swinging" that came in the games before. Many believe that these developments culminated in Insomniac's universe of Marvel's Spider-Man games, which have been deemed the best Spider-Man titles to date by many fans and critics.
