A creative fan has just visualized their dream Marvel fighting game roster in the style of DC’s Injustice series. This comes as rumors of a NetherRealm-developed fighting game continue to circulate the web, although most industry insiders claim that the Mortal Kombat developer is instead focusing its efforts on the currently unannounced Mortal Kombat 12 rather than a Marvel game or even the equally hoped-for Injustice 3.
This hasn’t stopped fighting game fans from imagining who among Marvel’s legendary slate of comic book characters would be featured in a hypothetical fighting game, and a supposed leak of the NetherRealm Marvel game’s roster from back in July raised eyebrows thanks to its blend of both mainstream and obscure Marvel characters alongside surprise guest fighters like Mortal Kombat’s Raiden and the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy villain Kylo Ren. Gamers haven’t been treated to a triple-A, Marvel-based 2D fighting game since Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite launched to a lukewarm reception back in 2017, though smaller titles like Marvel Contest Of Champions have been filling this void on mobile phones.

Twitter user and The Escapist graphic designer Rock Rìder, who previously impressed Marvel’s Spider-Man developer Insomniac Games with his custom-made fan poster of its Marvel offerings, recently finished playing Injustice 2’s story campaign.
