Lucasfilm showed The Mandalorian season 3 footage at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim, and the early look suggests it could make up for The Book of Boba Fett. With the Star Wars movies on hiatus for the time being, the galaxy far, far away has turned its attention to live-action TV shows being produced for Disney+. The first one out of the gate was The Mandalorian, which quickly became a fan-favorite thanks to the heartfelt dynamic between Din Djarin and Grogu. In addition to creating new characters for audiences to love, The Mandalorian has made use of some legacy Star Wars characters. Season 2 saw the return of Boba Fett — serving as a launching pad for his spinoff show, The Book of Boba Fett.
While that show was greatly anticipated in the months leading up to its premiere (Boba Fett has been a fan-favorite character himself for over 40 years), its reception was far more lukewarm when compared to The Mandalorian. Viewers were critical of the show's seemingly directionless first handful of episodes, and then later felt The Book of Boba Fett lost sight of its premise entirely when it shifted into Mandalorian content with Din reuniting with Grogu. The response to The Book of Boba Fett may have soured some on Star Wars TV shows, but The Mandalorian promises a return to form.

Screen Rant was at the Lucasfilm Studio Showcase at Star Wars Celebration, where a first look at The Mandalorian season 3 was screened exclusively for attendees. The footage set up a tense confrontation between Din Djarin and Bo-Katan, as the former looks to atone for his past transgressions.
