Billy Boyd, the actor who played Pippin in The Lord of the Rings, has joined the cast of The Elder Scrolls Online. ESO’s sixth chapter, High Isle, is just around the corner, promising to bring political intrigue, two new companions, a pirate-themed trial, and a new virtual card game to Bethesda and Zenimax Online Studios’ popular MMORPG. High Isle’s main story takes players to the Breton kingdom, a previously unexplored Elder Scrolls locale. The secret peace talks to negotiate an end to the Three Banners Ware will take center stage, but ESO’s new deckbuilding tavern game, Tales of Tribute, should offer an alternative to questing.
It was previously revealed that the Tales of Tribute minigame will offer cards to collect but will not requires players to traverse Tamriel to collect them. Players will instead start with one of eight Patron decks and will be tasked with building the best hand from all cards available. Players receive four of the Patron decks after completing Tales of Tribute’s tutorial and can collect the rest simply by completing matches. Each patron provides a special bonus for the player, whether by boosting their deck or debuffing the opponents', though players will have to earn their Patron's favor first. Beyond Tales of Tribute, High Isle promises to add brand new ESO companions, though more NPCs will certainly arrive when the expansion drops.
