Square Enix has had a busy week on the announcement front, revealing a number of upcoming games to get fans excited. One of the most anticipated is the return of fan-favorite RPG title Live A Live.
Live A Live, the 1994 SNES title from developer Square Enix, is a turn-based combat RPG game that follows several protagonists through a variety of time periods. The game has been exclusive to Japan since its release. Now Live A Live is receiving a remake on the Nintendo Switch that will be available worldwide.

The announcement came as a surprise during the February Nintendo Direct, revealing Nintendo would be publishing the striking 2.5D art style remake of Live A Live. Fans have been quick to draw comparisons to the original, and one video compares the Switch version of Live A Live to the original release. The latest character trailer gives fans an even greater insight into the upcoming game.
The Live A Live character trailer reveals more of the updated 2.5D art style alongside a significant update to the details of environments. Most excitingly, players got a glimpse at the many stories they will be able to experience. Some examples include a wanderer with a bounty on his head from the Wild West, and a Shinobi who is undertaking a secret mission in the Twilight of Edo Japan. Also, in the distant future, the robot Cube engages in an outer space horror mystery. Square Enix has a whole host of characters returning to Switch now, with the Kingdom Hearts Switch collection getting a new title.
