Traveler’s Tales first announced a LEGO adaptation of all nine mainline Star Wars films back in 2019, but The Skywalker Saga would see multiple delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic and production issues brought on by employee crunch at the development studio. Still, the wait is almost over at long last, with LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga finally set to arrive on April 5.
LEGO games based on the iconic Star Wars franchise have always been popular and successful among players young and old, but LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga looks to shake up the formula of Traveler’s Tales’ line of family-friendly collect-a-thon games in many ways. Gameplay trailers for LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga have featured a revamped combat system for both lightsaber users and characters who prefer a good blaster at their side, and Traveler’s Tales is adding in a new character class system that fans are hoping will ensure that every member of The Skywalker Saga’s roster of roughly 300 characters will be useful in their own way. LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga will also include a special Mumble Mode feature that will allow players to turn off character dialogue and recreate the pantomimed storytelling of older LEGO video games like the first two LEGO Star Wars titles.
