Nintendo has dropped a surprise announcement on its social media channels, as Kirby's Dream Buffet has been revealed for the Nintendo Switch. 2022 has already seen one highly-acclaimed Kirby game, in the form of the highly-reviewed Kirby and the Forgotten Land, so it's surprising to see another Kirby game announced so soon.
The Kirby series is best-known for its platformers, but it has dipped into other genres from time to time. These include fighting games, like Kirby Fighters 2, racing games, like Kirby's Air Ride, and even Kirby's Pinball Land on the original Game Boy. The Kirby franchise and characters are pretty fluid when it comes to putting them into different genres and settings, with Kirby's own unflappable nature and basic design allowing him to be dropped into pretty much any type of game.

Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers have already received an extra Kirby game this year, as the N64 app added Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards back in May. 2022 has been a big year for Kirby and it's only getting bigger, as the Nintendo YouTube channel has announced Kirby's Dream Buffet, an upcoming racing/party game that is coming exclusively to the Nintendo eShop. Kirby's Dream Buffer will launch in summer 2022, which means it should be available soon.
Kirby's Dream Buffet involves Kirby and other characters from the Kirby franchise racing on stages made from confectionary. The aim of the game is to eat as many strawberries as possible, with the winner breaking the scale at the end of the stage.
