At San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige unveiled the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and how the Multiverse Saga will come to an epic conclusion. It was revealed that fans will be getting more Avengers films in 2025 to close out phase 6. The titles for the films are Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars.
The initial three Avengers films were released with a three-year span between each film, and only a one-year gap between Infinity War and Endgame. However, with the release of The Kang Dynasty to come in May 2025, it’ll be six years since Earth's mightiest heroes have graced the big screen.
It Makes Sense To Do Fewer Avengers Movies Now
In a recent interview with MTV News Feige discussed the hiatus, Feige defended the six-year wait for a newAvengers film. “The truth is, when we were doing Phase 1, Phase 2 and Phase 3, there were less projects over more years,” Feige said. “They were smaller projects and individual character stories, and it felt appropriate at that point, that after every two or three years that it took for a phase, we would do an Avengers film.” He went on to add that with the Disney Plus series and asMarvel Studios obtains characters like Deadpool and The Fantastic Four from Fox, they are able to bring characters together in other projects, so Avengers films are not needed as frequently as they were in the past saga.
Feige also made a note to add that “Avengers films really should be the capper to a saga.” It's been recently confirmed that Avengers: The Kang Dynasty will be directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, who helmed Marvel Studios' Shang-Chi. There has yet to be a director attached to Avengers: Secret Wars as of now, but reports indicate that Cretton will not
