A first-look image from Avatar: The Way of Water has revealed an in-depth glimpse at Kate Winslet's Na'vi character, who is confirmed to be a fierce warrior. The Way of Water is the long-awaited sequel to James Cameron's high-tech blockbuster spectacle Avatar, which was released in 2009 and quickly became the highest-grossing film of all time. The sequel will continue to explore the world of Pandora, where the blue aliens known as Na'vi live.
The new film, which brings audiences to the shores of the oceans of Pandora, will combine memorable returning characters with a whole heap of brand new cast members. The actors returning to the franchise include Sam Worthington as Jake Sully, Zoe Saldaña as Neytiri, and Sigourney Weaver as a currently unspecified new character. The new performers joining the troupe this time around include Cliff Curtis, Edie Falco, Michelle Yeoh, Jemaine Clement, Vin Diesel, and Kate Winslet, who previously collaborated with Cameron on his romantic megablockbuster Titanic in 1997.

Today, Empire released a special sneak peek at their July 7 cover story on Avatar: The Way of Water. The exclusive reveals a new first-look image of Winslet's character, the Na'vi Ronal. Winslet was also able to confirm details about the character, who is one of the leaders of the oceanic Metkayina tribe of Na'vi.
