Katamari Damacy is a fondly remembered PS2 game that has stolen the hearts of tons of players worldwide due to its wacky gameplay and gimmick, where players roll a sticky ball around the map in hopes of making it big enough to roll over every object possible. Part of its success was due to the art style of its creator, Keita Takahashi, who has recently teased that he has a new title in development that will be published by Annapurna Interactive.
Keita Takahashi is one of the more humble developers in the industry, as he's refused praise for Katamari Damacy under the premise that it isn't «innovative» or «creative.» He just wanted to bring some silly fun back into video games. He has also said in the past that he wishes to leave video game development someday, wanting to eventually design playgrounds for children instead. It seems Takahashi isn't done with making games just yet, however, as he's made it clear that a new game is on the way.
Kentucky Route Zero Devs Announce New Game
Annapurna Interactive shared a small teaser trailer of Keita Takahashi's next project on social media. It seems that despite the nod to how Takahashi helped create the Katamari series, this title is completely new. The small snippet fans have for now also seems to be teasing the game's main characters, which appear to be a dog and its owner.
While both old and new fans would most likely love a new Katamari game after the release of Katamari Damacy Reroll in 2018, this game may only feature a nod or two to Takahashi's previous project because Bandai Namco Entertainment still holds the legal rights to the franchise.
