Yumeko is the undeniable embodiment of the term Compulsive Gambler, as she demonstrates her inability to avoid high-risk situations time and time again. Nobody can deny that she has incredible gambling skills, but she is so often swept away in the adrenalin rush that she throws all logic out the window.

This is essentially why Yumeko has not accumulated that many votes in the Election (so far). While her mind games have significantly helped a select few, they have also destroyed others' lives, making Yumeko the most disruptive player in the entire Hyakkaou aquarium in Kakegurui.

Mary Saotome initially comes across as such an unlikeable character that most viewers assume she is the main antagonist of the series, and yet, by the end of Kakegurui XX, she has one of the largest fanbases of the show. Mary is technically an underdog, stemming from a less fortunate family without significant financial backing, promoting the blonde bombshell to take her gambling very seriously indeed. By attempting to secure a win, Mary regularly relies on cheating tactics delivered so smoothly that they are virtually undetectable; until Yumeko gets a turn!

Not only does Yumeko see straight through the deception, but she publically humiliates Mary, subsequently knocking the girl off her egotistical pedestal. Humiliated and desperate, Mary ends up losing again and becomes a housepet, but is essentially reminded of her true goals at Hyakkaou Academy: taking down the Student Council's sadistic system. Mary reluctantly begins to team up with Yumeko as they give Kirari and her people hell, eventually disrupting the aquarium enough to create an opportunity for Mary to seize the presidential title.

As the only first
