For those that had money on Silent Hill‘s return, you might be in luck. It looks like Konami is finally giving us an update on what’s next for the franchise very soon. The official Silent Hill Twitter account announced a showcase for October 19 at 5 PM ET that will share “The latest updates for the Silent Hill series.”
The Silent Hill Twitter account has been relegated to sharing news about merchandise and collaborations for a long time, so to see an actual game announcement come from it is a bit shocking. But it confirms what many had long believed and rumored. We still don’t fully know what the series’ comeback will look like, but some leaks may give us a hint.
This year has been filled with rumors, and skepticism, about Silent Hill‘s return. But now that we know the series is indeed coming back in some form, we can take a look at what may be at the Silent Hill showcase. According to a recent hint from Christophe Gans, multiple projects are in the works. Alongside that, other rumors indicate that a Silent Hill 2 remake is in development, as well as a brand-new game. And let’s not forget that Silent Hill: The Short Message was spotted on Korean rating boards not too long ago.
In terms of which teams are developing these projects, that’s unclear for now. Some rumors have stated that Bloober Team is involved to some extent. It also seems like series composer Akira Yamaoka and artist Masahiro Ito could be involved. The two former developers in Team Silent retweeted the official announcement of the Silent Hill showcase. This could simply be seen as their support for a franchise they have both worked on. However, past rumors have indicated that they may be directly involved in Silent Hill‘s new titles.
