Following the release of the film's first trailer, veteran fans and new viewers now have a broader sense of what the film will be like. To that end, the appearance of a familiar dinosaur means the days are likely numbered for the franchise's original villain.
As Jurassic World: Dominion's trailer depicts, Earth has changed heavily since the dinosaurs were released into the human world at the end of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. For the most part, this change has not been for the better. As mentioned by both Doctors Ellie Sattler and Ian Malcolm, dinosaurs are damaging the planet through their co-existence with humanity. To that end, they, along with Dr. Alan Grant, will likely be working to prevent truly catastrophic results. Eventually, their crusade will lead to them working alongside Owen Grady and Claire Dearing.

In Jurassic World: Dominion's trailer, Claire is shown face-to-face with a carnivorous dinosaur. Long-time fans of the franchise will remember this particular creature to be the Dilophosaurus, who had a brief, yet incredibly memorable scene in the original Jurassic Park. In said scene, Dennis Nedry is seen attempting to make his getaway when he crashes his truck, which leaves him stuck in the Dilophosaurus' pen. Upon encountering the dinosaur, Jurassic Park's Nedry tries to entice her by playing fetch with a stick. The scene goes from funny to horrifying when the Dilophosaurus reveals her true intentions for Nedry and proceeds to devour him after spitting her poison saliva in his face.
