Amazon Studios have reportedly made a deal to develop John Cena’s latest action-comedy project, Officer Exchange. Cena, who rose to fame as a professional wrestler in the WWE, made his acting debut in the 2006 film, The Marine, which was produced by WWE Studios. He since delved into more comedic roles, such as those in Trainwreck, Sisters, and Daddy’s Home 1 and 2. More recently, Cena has also headlined his own superhero series, Peacemaker, in which he reprised his role from last year’s DCEU hit, The Suicide Squad.
According to reports from Deadline, Amazon has secured the rights to Cena’s latest feature film project, Officer Exchange, a buddy-cop adventure in which he plays "a wrecking ball of a cop" named Shep. Based on a script penned by Ben Zazove and Evan Turner, the film will see Cena’s character team up with a local police officer to take down a diamond smuggling ring operating in India.

This newest project marks an increasingly busy schedule for the wrestler-turned-superstar. Not only is Cena set to return to his role of Christopher Smith in Peacemaker season 2, but he is also slated to appear in Warner Bros' latest live-action and animated hybrid film, Coyote vs. Acme. In that particular film, Cena has been cast as the head of the Acme Corporation, the company responsible for the many defective products used by Wile E. Coyote in his repeated failed attempts to catch the Road Runner. With Officer Exchange now currently in development, it would seem that Cena’s star continues to rise, and his talents are in increasing demand.
