Horror movie maestro John Carpenter is lending his name and inimitable style to a video game. John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando is a co-op FPS inspired by 80s horror, coming from Saber Interactive to PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC in 2024.
The first person shooter is built on Saber’s Swarm Engine, as seen in World War Z and the upcoming Space Marine 2, and if there’s one thing that the Swarm Engine can do, it’s big hordes of monsters to battle through!. Toxic Commando will let you team up with up to four players to take on mutated monstrosities – did someone say The Thing? – in an attempt to take out this supernatural outbreak before it’s too late.
There will be a closed beta test for John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando, and you can sign up here.
“It’s exciting to be collaborating on a new video game with Focus and Saber,” said John Carpenter. “Look, I really like shooting zombies. They keep telling me that they’re called ’the infected.’ Please. They’re ghouls, dude. They blow up real good and there are a ton of them. People are going to love this game.”
I do like John Carpenter.
