Simone Joy Jones plays Lisa, Carlton’s ex-girlfriend who catches feelings for Will.
Screen Rant had a chance to chat with the cast of Bel-Air about what made The Fresh Prince a timeless classic and what to expect from the new spin on their characters.

Screen Rant: Bel-Air is an amazing show. Look, it flips the original upside down. Obviously, it's not a comedy, it's definitely a drama, but I absolutely love this show. The first question I have for you guys, is the original, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air is timeless, it's classic, it's an amazing show. Why has it stood the test of time for such a long amount of time and that's for any of you?
Simone Joy Jones: Because it's honest, you know what I mean? Will Smith came and brought himself. His style, his honest connection between each character, and that I think that freed us as an audience to see ourselves in that. We just watch it and then it becomes like a generational thing. My parents watched it, I watched it, my little brothers watched it and we all see something about ourselves that we want to be, or that we are.
Jimmy Akingbola: I think also we grew up with Will, right? It was that sense of, even the Will in real life. It was like, he's gone from rapping, fell into this role. That Quincy he had some meeting with Quincy Jones and the moment kept going. The show was groundbreaking. It was doing things
