Director Josef Fares recently shared footage of a squirrel fight that landed on the cutting room floor during production on It Takes Two. The award-winning co-op game, which won GOTY at the 2021 Game Awards, launched digitally last year for PC, last-gen, and current-gen consoles as part of Electronic Arts' EA Original label. As the third game helmed by Josef Fares, It Takes Two marked an evolution in cooperative play, which players anticipate will be further expanded upon in the auteur's next project.
It Takes Two stars Cody and May, a married couple on the verge of divorce. After telling their daughter Rose of their plans to split up, the young girl uses hand-made dolls modeled after her parents to fix things in her own child-like way. The couple wakes up not too long thereafter in the form of said dolls, altered by a magic spell designed to bring them closer together. What ensues is a series of challenging obstacles the couple must overcome in miniature as a team. Needless to say, it makes for quite an interesting co-op adventure.

This past Friday, January 21, It Takes Two Director and Co-Writer Josef Fares posted a brief clip of cut content from the co-op title. Running just shy of 10 seconds in length, the video in question featured two handsomely dressed squirrels — yes, squirrels — duking it out, pelting each other with blow after blow. The two bear a resemblance to Alvin and the Chipmunk characters, though neither of them looks as though they're interested in singing a tune.
