Is Stardew Valley 1.6 Finally Fixed On Nintendo Switch?
The 1.6 update was released on the Nintendo Switch in November 2024, after releasing for PC users back in March. The 1.6 update was highly anticipated by players eager for new content and features. The major update brought with it a new farm layout, new festivals and events, new crops, fish, and resources, and much more game-changing content.
Unfortunately, as exciting as the 1.6 Nintendo Switch update was, it was met with disappointment instead of delight. While the update brought a slew of fresh and exciting new content, it also brought some game-breaking issues that affected performance and overshadowed the excitement of the latest content.
Players have reported several issues with many important game features since the update launched on Switch. While some problems have been minor inconveniences,others have rendered certain game features unplayable.
Features like using bombs in local co-op, interacting with the Junimo chest, divorcing a spouse, and a second player entering through a split-screen coop have caused the game to crash unexpectedly. Even things like betting and winning on the escargot at the Desert Festival and evicting Krobus from your home result in game crashes.
ConcernedApe will admonish players for using cheats in Stardew Valley, including bringing Grandpa back to express his disappointment.
Other smaller issues also affect gameplay mechanics, though they have not resulted in game-breaking crashes. For instance, in co-op, the Volcano Mine leading up to the Volcano Dungeon is often empty when entered by Player 2 alone, but not when Player 1 enters first. Normal mines also freeze up and players cannot interact with the environment. Another annoying issue is that workbenches don't pull items from nearby chests. Sometimes, the inventory won't show properly, either.
The 1.6 update improved saves, including recovering most saves automatically if they’re broken, corrupted, or missing the SaveGameInfo file.
