Finally, Apple has unveiled its much anticipated iOS update iOS 16 at WWDC 2022 on June 6. The tech giant has finally put an end to all the speculations and rumors about iOS 16. The new OS update has brought some major upgrades and features for iPhones like improved lock screen, focus mode, Apple Pay Later, parental controls, to health features and much more. Apple launches every iOS update with major feature upgrades and a bunch of minor improvements. However, some of the iPhones couldn’t get the new OS support due to the hardware limitations of the camera, or the chip inside certain models. While there was much speculation regarding which iPhone will get iOS 16 support, the tech giant has finally revealed the list of iPhones that will get the new software update for free. The list includes- iPhone SE, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X and iPhone XR, iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max, iPhone 13 Mini, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. This means iPhone 7 and older models will not be able to enjoy the new upgrades and features.
The tech giant will first release iOS 16 for a few beta testers soon. Once the features and upgrades will be tested and approved, it is likely to be rolled out for all with iPhone 14 launch in September this year.
