Intellivision Amico's Trademark Has Been Abandoned

Intellivision Amico, the new Intellivision Entertainment, is the company responsible for the 1979 Mattel-produced video game console. Unfortunately, its attempted revival has been subject to many delays and controversies since its first announcement in May 2018. After announcing last month that it would be cutting staff and licensing some of its exclusive IP in order to remain operable and ship the console, it appears the company has now abandoned the Intellivision Amico's trademark.

The Intellivision Amico was first announced by video game composer and Video Games Live creator Tommy Tallarico in 2018 with a planned release for October 2020. The system is planned to be a digital only console that ships with two wireless controllers with touchscreens. Games for the Intellivision Amico are also only allowed to have a maximum ESRB rating of E10+, as the system is planned to be «family friendly.» The company also announced many licensed IP from companies such as Atari as well as classic Intellivision IP including Asteroids, Earthworm Jim, Joe and Mac, and ToeJam and Earl.

While pre-orders for the Intellivision Amico opened in April 2020 for $249, they soon closed after the company was forced to stop taking pre-orders due to the COVID-19 pandemic's effect on supply chains. In August 2020, the Intellivision Amico was delayed to April 2021, though a few months later, it was once again delayed to October 2021. Unfortunately, it was then delayed again shortly after to a vague «2021» release window until updates suddenly stopped, with the console believed to be delayed indefinitely.
