Ke Huy Quan, who plays Short Round in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, says that he enjoyed watching the movie being filmed, but there was one particular scene that the young actor was not allowed to witness. Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom was the first sequel to follow the success of the original Indiana Jones film, Raiders of the Lost Ark. Harrison Ford once again donned his iconic fedora and whip for the adventure, this time teaming up with an adolescent sidekick by the name or Short Round or “Shorty.”
At the time of filming, Quan was only twelve years old. However, the young actor quickly adjusted to the demands of acting and excelled under the supervision of director Steven Spielberg. Shorty’s quick-witted responses and humor paired well with Ford’s personality onscreen. Indiana Jones and Shorty faced many skin-crawling situations together, from eating monkey brains to witnessing human sacrifices. Many of the macabre scenes may seem like they would be a bit much for a young child, but not Quan.

Similar to his character, Quan proved his braveness in the midst of morbid backdrops and props. As a matter of fact, the actor actually enjoyed being amongst the items. During a recent interview with Yahoo!, Quan said that he actually had «fun» seeing the spooky props. Nevertheless, he said that there was one particular scene that he was not allowed to witness while filming.
