Immortals Of Aveum has been delayed, Ascendant Studios announced today, sending one of Summer Game Fest’s attention getters into August.
The game made a splash at the PlayStation Showcase with a trailer and followed that up at Summer Game Fest. We were able to preview the game, with Bradford saying “I remember growing up loving old spell-slinging shooters like Hexen and Heretic ” and saying that Immortals of Aveum , with its first-person magic shooter blend, was bringing back similar feelings.
CEO and founder Bret Robbins thanked everyone for the excitement and warm reception, “Your reactions to Immortals of Aveum™ over the past few weeks has been incredibly inspiring…It’s been amazing”, before the important details of the announcement followed.
Immortals of Aveum is their first project as an independent studio, and the positive reception seems to have been one of the catalysts in the decision to push the game’s release back a few weeks. It is a delay, but it moves the launch from July 20th to August 22nd, so that timeframe does fit with a stated desire to polish things up and get ready for a big multi-platform launch.
“The recent feedback to the game proves to us what we already felt: that Immortals of Aveum is something special. In order to realize our full vision, we are going to take a few extra weeks, making our new launch date Tuesday, August 22nd. This will give us time to further polish the game, finish optimizing all platforms, and deliver a strong launch. We owe it to ourselves and to you to get this right.”
