Cyberpunk 2077's major 2023 expansion, Phantom Liberty, will see Idris Elba join the cast. Elba's role in the upcoming DLC was revealed in a new trailer showcased during The Game Awards this evening.
Developer CD Projekt Red has since confirmed Elba will be playing a character called Solomon Reed, a veteran New United States of America agent who the studio has teased is "apparently the only person players can trust to help them fulfill an impossible mission of espionage and survival."
CD Projekt Red recently confirmed Phantom Liberty will be paid DLC when it's released in 2023, however the studio has not confirmed a price or specific release date for the update.
Little else is known about Phantom Liberty at this stage, though it is official that Keanu Reeves will return as Johnny Silverhand in the expansion. Game director Gabriel Amatengelo has previously discussed that Phantom Liberty will feature a new style of plot and a new cast of characters, and will not be made available on previous generation consoles.
