This week I packed Prime Cafu. I can’t remember which pack it was exactly, but it was one of the mixed players ones from Marquee Matchups. I was only really doing them for the FUT Birthday Token and a chance of getting my hands on the new Suarez card for my Liverpool past and present team, but I got Cafu. World Cup winner, the greatest right back to ever play the game, the Brazilian Trent Alexander-Arnold. Cafu. But he actually presents me with a bit of a problem.
I’ve just moved house and the internet hasn’t been set up yet, so I completed the SBCs and opened the resulting packs using the FUT app on my phone. This probably killed my hype a little - imagine seeing the white board come up in glorious 4K - but I was still excited. Prime Cafu.

I’ve used Icons before, but I’ve never packed one in five years of actively playing Ultimate Team. I’ve done SBCs, I’ve bought them from the Transfer Market, and I’ve opened Icon Packs, but never got one in a regular pack. Most players never will! In fact, I only found out that you could even get Icons in regular packs a couple of years ago. I’m more embedded in the online FIFA community now, so I see people’s flexes more often, but casual players could go their whole lives without knowing it’s a possibility.
Cafu’s Prime Icon card is great. With a 93 rating and links to every player in the game, he’s already brilliant, but his stats actually work well in FIFA, too. Some players - Steven Gerrard I’m looking at you - don’t translate to FIFA, and despite having good ratings, they just aren’t worth using. I’ll still use my Icon Swaps on him, but he’s not going to pick my team up by the scruff of its neck and
