With John Wick and Deadpool 2 on his résumé, the hype surrounding David Leitch's Bullet Train comes as no surprise, especially with a cast that includes Brad Pitt, Sandra Bullock, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Bad Bunny, Hiroyuki Sanada and Zazie Beetz. The premise is predictably simple: a skilled assassin who desperately wants out is reluctantly dragged back into business (that sounds familiar) and faced with a larger conspiracy. The action takes place on the titular bullet train, where Brad Pitt's Ladybug must compete with a string of rival assassins to retrieve a briefcase.
After a four-month delay from its original release date, and with Brad Pitt confirmed as performing almost all of his own stunts, the Bullet Train bandwagon quickly gathered pace. On the other hand, initial reviews greeted Bullet Train with a rather mixed reception, and casting western actors as Asian characters from the original Kōtarō Isaka novel Bullet Train is based on has prompted accusations of whitewashing.

Bullet Train will premier theatrically in the United States on August 5, and will not release simultaneously on any streaming platform or on-demand service. At the current time, Bullet Train can only be seen in theaters, and is already showing in UK cinema chains as of August 3.
Bullet Train is distributed by Sony Pictures, which started a first pay-TV window deal with Netflix in 2022.
