Secret team endings are back in King of Fighters 15. While the story focuses on specific groups of three characters competing in the tournament, these alternate endings can be gained by picking an irregular team. This results in lots of replay value for the single-player modes.
The vast majority of the secret endings are disconnected from the King of Fighters 15 plot. Players should treat them as purely non-canon “what ifs” and fan service. Though each secret ending also features Heidern’s generic mission ending to tie things together.

Many of these custom teams are comprised of characters that might not fluidly mesh well. It is highly recommended that players spend at least some time in training with all three characters, and use the one they feel most comfortable with as leader. An additional option is to play story mode at an easier difficulty or use additional continues.
While most endings are gained by the default roster in King of Fighters 15, certain teams have unique endings for completing all of story mode. The team members typically have little in common story-wise, and instead share similar fighting styles or games of origin. This results in very short endings of mostly jokes and no plot development.
In addition to the special endings mentioned above, combinations of various characters will also correspond to gaining soundtrack albums in the DJ Station. The majority of them are the same as the endings, but others are from teams that just have the generic ending.
Each main roster team also gets an additional short clip during the ending credits. This typically only includes one or two of the members, and may reference past King of Fighters
