With King Arthur: Knight's Tale bringing in heroes from the Arthurian legend, very few characters have the same name recognition as the wise wizard Merlin. A powerful caster in the Arcanist class, Merlin can be an incredibly reliable source of power for Sir Mordred's party. However, gaining this legendary mage comes at the price of Sir Mordred's own mother.
Players will gain a chance to earn the loyalty of Merlin during Act 2 of King Arthur: Knight's Tale. Towards the end of this act, players will gain access to the Main Mission «The Witch Queen.» In this mission, players will meet up with both Merlin and Sir Mordred's own mother, the former Witch Queen of Orkney, Lady Morgawse. Either hero would benefit Sir Mordred's Camelot in King Arthur: Knight's Tale, but the player is forced to choose only one of these powerful mages.

Players that choose to side with Merlin during the mission will be unable to earn the powerful sage Lady Morgawse. But as powerful as Sir Mordred's mother is, the honor, glory, and thrill of gaining access to Merlin is definitely worth the cost of Lady Morgawse's loyalty. Immediately after the player chooses to side with Merlin, players will be able to use him as a guest combatant in the following combat. After the mission, Sir Mordred will be able to claim Merlin as part of his roundtable, the most powerful mage in King Arthur: Knight's Tale's dark take on the Arthurian myths.
Merlin is an extremely powerful arcanist but can be difficult for players to maintain loyalty with. Due to his alignment with the Old Faith, players taking Sir Mordred down the Christian path will struggle to keep Merlin with a modicum of Loyalty. The massive hits
