If you have a provident fund (PF) account, you should check balance on a regular basis. So, if you want to check your PF balance, it can be easily done via the UMANG App. However, it needs to be noted that you must be a member of the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) in order to have an account. Among the biggest benefits of a PF account is that it receives a very high interest rate. It is as high as 8.50 percent. Other than the UMANG App, you can also check your PF account balance via SMS, a missed call, or by visiting the official EPFO website. A high EPF interest rate along with compounding of interest, makes a significant difference to monetary gains of subscribers over the long term.
Provident Fund is also getting bigger. The Ministry of Labour and Employment has also, on January 20, 2022, released the EPFO Payroll data. According to which EPFO has added 13.95 lakh net subscribers during the month of November 2021, showing an increase of around 2.85 lakh net additions over the previous month of October, 2021 with a growth rate of 25.65%.
Year-on-year comparison of payroll data also shows an increase of around 3.84 lakh in net payroll additions in November, 2021 as compared to 10.11 lakh net subscribers added during the previous year in November, 2020, the report said.
