The Aadhaar card is one of the mandatory documents used as the most preferred ID proof in India. It is issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India or UIDAI, and provides a unique 12 digit number to every individual, even children. It is no wonder then that the Aadhaar card has become one of the most sought-after documents for almost all government as well as private services wherever ID proof is required. From opening a bank account to filling up the examination forms, it is needed everywhere. However, there are several services, especially related to banking and finance where you might face problems if your valid mobile number is not linked with your Aadhaar. For example, if you’re applying for a credit card, you will be required to verify Aadhaar card details via an OTP, which is sent to the linked mobile number. Hence, it is mandatory to keep it updated and link your valid mobile number to your Aadhaar ID.
There are two ways to update your mobile number on an Aadhaar card. You can do it online via the official website, however, for that you’ll need to have that Aadhaar linked phone number active. If you don’t have the same then you have to visit the nearest Aadhaar service center to get it done. Here’s a step by step process to do so, both offline and online:
1. Locate and visit a permanent Aadhaar enrollment centre.
2. Ask them to provide an Aadhaar updation form and fill in all your Aadhaar database with the new mobile number.
3. Submit the application along with a nominal fee of Rs. 50.
4. Now, verify your identity through biometric verification.
5. Once done, you will be provided with a Unique Reference number that can be used to check the status of your request on the mAadhaar app or UIDAI’s official
